Body
Williamson County was the recipient of a significant amount of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding that they have designated to Cities throughout the County for future water infrastructure projects. The County made available an amount of up to $14,000,000 to the Cities of Georgetown and Round Rock from the County’s State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLRF Funds).Round Rock and Georgetown proposed to use the funding provided to extend a 36-inch waterline approximately 18,000 feet along Chandler Road from FM 1660 to State Highway 130. The funding will be utilized during the construction phase of the project. The City of Round Rock is managing the project on behalf of Round Rock and Georgetown.CDM Smith, Inc. was selected to complete the engineering design for this project. The total engineering cost was $996,700 which was split evenly between the City of Round Rock and City of Georgetown. The engineering is nearing completion, and the project is projected to go to bid in early summer. The Utilities and Environmental Services Department requests approval to deliver the project using a Competitive Sealed Proposal delivery method. The estimated construction cost of the project is currently at $14.1 million and must be completed in accordance with the ARPA funding requirements. The Cities will fund any cost that exceeds the ARPA funds. Using the competitive sealed proposal delivery method will allow the City of Round Rock to select a contractor with experience in this type of work and that can meet the deadlines associated with the funding requirements. This method of project delivery will help to provide the best overall value to the City of Round Rock.
