Title

Consider a resolution casting a vote for the Travis Central Appraisal District Board of Directors.

Body

It is time for the City to cast its vote for the Travis Central Appraisal District Board of Directors. The term for the prospective member’s service will be two years, starting on January 1, 2024. According to Section 6.03 of the Texas Property Tax Code, each taxing unit must determine their vote by resolution and submit it to the Chief Appraiser before December 15, 2023. This resolution will fulfill that requirement.

The City of Round Rock gets one vote and the appointee is selected by a majority vote of the eastern jurisdictions.

In 2021, the Round Rock City Council placed their vote for Elizabeth Montoya. Ms. Montoya was nominated by the City of Pflugerville and resides in that jurisdiction. In the past, Round Rock has supported the nominee from Pflugerville as only a small portion of the City of Round Rock is in Travis County and the application of property values and tax laws for cities leads to an alignment on appraisal issues between Round Rock and Pflugerville.

The nominations are:

Maria Amezcua, nominated by the City of Manor

Elizabeth Montoya, nominated by the City of Pflugervile

Cory Vessa, nominated by the Round Rock ISD
