Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Quantity Adjustment/Change Order No. 1 with Joe Bland Construction, LLC for the Red Bud North Project.

 

Body

This project upgrades an existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided facility and includes intersection enhancements, curb and gutter installation, and pedestrian improvements. The project was let for construction on September 10, 2024, and construction began in March 2025.

 

Quantity Adjustment/Change Order (QA/CO) No. 1 requests additional funding for the following items:

 

-  Storm Sewer Box Redesign: The consulting engineer redesigned the storm sewer boxes north of US 79 due to insufficient cover. The original two 6'x2' concrete boxes were replaced with a singular 9' × 2' box. The consulting firm will cover the cost of this redesign and related work (approximately $236,000).

 

-  Additional Driveways: New driveways at Red Bud Industrial Park and across from T.C. Oats were added to the plans to properly tie into the new roadway.

 

-  Pipe Adjustment: A pipe originally designed within the subgrade required lowering to meet construction and grading requirements.

 

These changes result in an additional $367,895.00 in construction costs. The original contract amount was $26,835,030. With this QA/CO No. 1, the revised contract total will be $27,202,925.
