Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Supplemental Contract No. 1 with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for the DB Wood Raw Waterline Relocation Project.

Body

In 1995, the City of Round Rock installed a 30-inch raw waterline in the right-of-way of DB Wood Road in Georgetown, Texas. The raw water line is one of two lines that feed raw water from Lake Georgetown to the City’s Water Treatment Plant.

The City of Round Rock was recently notified by the City of Georgetown that they have undertaken a roadway project that will be expanding DB Wood Road.  The roadway expansion will be in conflict with Round Rock’s raw waterline in potentially four locations.  Because the waterline is not located in a dedicated easement, Georgetown has requested that Round Rock relocate our raw water line as to not be in conflict with the roadway project.

Under the initial contract, Kimley-Horn evaluated the possibility of relocating Round Rock’s 30-inch raw water line. Based on that analysis, the raw waterline will need to be relocated at three locations and protected at two additional locations. One relocation will require that a new waterline be installed across the San Gabriel River.

This supplemental agreement to the original contract is for the engineering associated with final design, bidding and construction phase services associated with the raw waterline relocations. The total cost of the supplemental agreement is $466,413.41.
