Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Interlocal Agreement for Joint and Cooperative Purchasing with the City of Liberty Hill.

Body

Texas Government Code Chapter 791 allows local governments to enter into Interlocal Agreements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of local programs. In June 2023, the City of Liberty Hill approached the City of Round Rock requesting this cooperative agreement.  The purpose of the agreement is to provide both the City of Round Rock and the City of Liberty Hill the authority to appoint the other party as its purchasing agent for the purchase of goods and services.  The use of purchasing cooperatives can provide for efficient discount pricing and expedited placement of orders.

This agreement is very similar to other cooperatives that the City currently uses with other cities and local government, including agreements with the cities of Cedar Park, Georgetown, Leander and Austin.
