Title

Consider an ordinance amending Chapter 44, Article II, Sections 44-32, 44-33, and 44-34, Code of Ordinances (2018 Edition), regarding water rates, reuse water rates, and sewer rates. (First Reading)(Requires Two Readings)

Body

The City recently completed an update of their water and wastewater rate model. The rate model is a tool the City utilizes to ensure costs are recovered to provide reliable, high-quality water, wastewater and reuse water services to its citizens. Because of cost increases related to operation requirements as well as capital needs, the City is proposing an increase to retail water, wastewater and reuse water rates as well as wholesale water and wastewater rates over the next three years.  This philosophy allows the City to step-in the increase over several years and not a one-time larger increase causing rate shock for our customers.

If approved by Council, the rates will go into effect for billing periods that start after November 1st each year.
