Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Supplemental Contract No. 1 with Kasberg, Patrick & Associates, LP for the Cycle 3 - Basic 4 and 5 - Wastewater Main Rehabilitation Project.
Body
The City is required to evaluate the wastewater collection system located over the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone every five years to comply with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requirements. The elimination of defects inside the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone will not only help to protect the Edwards Aquifer, but will also reduce inflow and infiltration entering the City's wastewater collection system, thereby reducing the City's wastewater treatment cost.
Approximately 60 percent of the City is located over the Edwards Aquifer. The City has divided up this area into sub-basins and labeled the sub-basins by Brushy Creek (BC), Chandler Creek (CC), Lake Creek (LC), Onion Creek (OC), and McNutt Creek (MC). The City has recently completed the inspection of 13 sub-basins that are in two of the wastewater basins to determine the areas that require rehabilitation. This contract is to develop construction plans and specifications to rehabilitate the wastewater collection system in these sub-basins.
The original engineering contract was for $51,630 for the evaluation of camera inspections of the collection lines and to determine a rehabilitation method for any needed repairs. This engineering contract for $172,270 is for design of construction plans and specifications for rehabilitation.
Cost: $172,270
