Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Supplemental Contract No. 1 with BGE, Inc. for the SH 29 Raw Water Line Relocation (IH 35 to Wolf Ranch Parkway) project.

Body

The City of Round Rock has two raw water lines that feed raw water to the City’s Water Treatment Plant. One of the 30-inch raw water lines is located in the right-of-way (ROW) of State Highway 29 in Georgetown, which is owned and managed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The raw water line was installed in 1995 and has been relocated in several locations due to TxDOT roadway conflicts.

In August, TxDOT notified the City of Round Rock that they will be expanding State Highway 29 from Interstate-35 to Wolf Ranch Parkway. The road widening project will conflict with Round Rock’s 30-inch raw water line, and the line must be relocated. Round Rock is responsible for relocation costs because the water line is in TxDOT’s ROW. BGE, Inc. recently completed a routing study for the relocation of the 30-inch raw water line, and the most feasible option was selected. A total of approximately 2,600 linear feet of 30-inch raw water line will be relocated within TxDOT’s ROW.

This request is for the approval of Supplemental Agreement No. 1 in the amount of $250,943.93 with BGE, Inc. This supplemental agreement is for the design of the raw water line relocation as well as bid and construction phase services. This project is moving forward on an accelerated schedule with the goal of completing the raw water line relocation prior to TxDOT’s roadway project that is planned to begin in 2025.
