Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Agreement with Walker Aero Environmental, LLC for wastewater treatment facility sludge composting operations.
Body
The City will be taking over Operations and Maintenance of the Brushy Creek Regional Wastewater System (BCRWWS) from the Brazos River Authority starting October 1, 2018. As part of the transition, the City will be contracting with a facility to accept wastewater treatment plant sludge for composting services.
On July 18, 2018, formal bids were solicited for the composting of wastewater treatment facility sludge. Walker Aero Environmental, LLC. was the only vendor that responded to the solicitation. Approximately 28,000 tons of wastewater treatment facility sludge generated by the BCRWWS will be composted in 2019 fiscal year. Composting is a process that results in a product that can be beneficially used as a soil amendment.
The estimated cost for accepting the sludge will be $807,800 per year with a five year total of $4,039,000.
