Title

Consider public testimony regarding, and a resolution approving a portion of the Paseo/Griffith Building Downtown Improvements Project, as a Type B Project pursuant to the Local Government Code.

 

 

Body

The Paseo/Griffith project includes several improvements to downtown, including improvements that qualify as projects for the RRTEDC.

 

The total project costs are expected not to exceed $19.5 million, and include:

 

RRTEDC (Type B) Funded                                                    - $10.7 million

                     Design & construct a Paseo connecting Downtown to the new NE downtown parking garage and library

                     Design and renovate portion of Griffith building to house the Round Rock Chamber, which performs the City’s economic development efforts under contract

 

Hotel Occupancy Tax Funded                                                      - $4.6 million

                     Design and renovate portion of Griffith building to house Arts Center and Convention & Visitors Bureau offices

 

General Self-Finance Construction Fund                     - $4.2 million

                     Renovate City Hall parking garage

                     Design and renovate portion of Griffith building to house future City administrative offices and common areas

 

This project will link to previously funded Type B projects including the NE downtown parking garage and downtown parklet & improvements projects.

 

This agenda item is to approve the adoption of this plan by the Type B Board at the September 28, 2023, meeting. 

 

Design for the project is underway and expected to be completed Spring 2024, and construction to commence at that time.  The entire project is currently scheduled for completion in late 2025.

Staff recommends approval.
