Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Interlocal Agreement for Emergency Water Service with the City of Austin.
Body
The City of Round Rock has an existing emergency water interconnect with the City of Austin along CR172 in Round Rock. The interconnect can provide water to Round Rock's 971 pressure plane from Austin’s water distribution system in the event of an emergency. The existing interconnect is being relocated as part of the Amazon development of the property between CR172 and McNeil Road.
This Interlocal Agreement (ILA) for Emergency Water Service between Round Rock and Austin will re-establish procedures, costs, and contact lists for the use of the new interconnect. Costs only apply when Round Rock receives water from the interconnect and includes a daily use charge, volumetric charge, and monthly meter charge as follows:
- Daily use charge: $2,670 for each calendar day Round Rock is provided water service through the interconnect; charge increases to $5,340 if the interconnect is activated more than three times in a calendar year.
- Volumetric charge: Round Rock will be charged per 1,000 gallons at a rate equal to the average of Austin’s wholesale rates at the time of use.
- Monthly meter charge: Round Rock will be charged for the months that water is provided through the interconnect at Austin’s current meter charge rates at the time of use.
