Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract for Engineering Services with Kasberg, Patrick & Associates, LP for the Cycle 4 - Basins 3 & 4 Wastewater Collection System Rehabilitation Project.

The City is required to evaluate its wastewater system within the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone every five years to comply with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations. Addressing defects in this area not only helps protect the Edwards Aquifer, but also reduces inflow and infiltration into the City's wastewater collection system, ultimately lowering treatment costs. Approximately 50 percent of the City is located over the Edwards Aquifer. This area has been divided into five basins, each containing multiple sub-basins. The City recently completed inspections of nine sub-basins located within Basins 3 and 4 to identify areas in need of rehabilitation. Kasberg, Patrick & Associates, LP (KPA) was selected to provide engineering services, including evaluating the camera inspection data and determining appropriate rehabilitation methods for the identified wastewater mains and manholes.
This item is for the approval of an engineering contract with KPA to provide preliminary engineering, design, bidding, and construction phase services for the rehabilitation of the wastewater collection system in Basins 3 and 4. The total cost for engineering services is $235,440.
