Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Subrecipient Agreement with Williamson County for the Williamson County Regional Water Supply, Segment A Project.

Body

Williamson County was the recipient of a significant amount of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding that they have designated to Cities throughout the County for future water infrastructure projects. The County made available an amount of up to $14,000,000 to the Cities of Georgetown and Round Rock from the ARPA funds to reimburse the Cities for eligible expenses for a Regional Water Supply Project.  Round Rock has agreed to be the Subrecipient of the funds for this project on behalf of Georgetown and Round Rock.  This Agreement shall become effective upon signature by both Parties and shall continue in full force and effect until December 31, 2026, at which time the funds must be spent.

These funds will be utilized for a water supply project that is just one of many future water line segments that will be constructed to meet future needs in Williamson County.  Our project, referred to as Segment A, is just one segment of waterline that will ultimately transport Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer groundwater to Round Rock and potential to other Cities that provide water in the County.  This segment extends a 36-inch waterline along Chandler Road from FM 1660 to State Highway 130.

In addition, a separate Interlocal Agreement between the two Cities will be brought to Council for consideration that outlines the cost reimbursement for Round Rock managing and inspecting the project on behalf of the two Cities.
