Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Second Amendment to the Amended and Restated Refuse Collection Contract between the City of Round Rock, Texas and Central Texas Refuse, LLC

The City currently has a Refuse Collection Contract with Central Texas Refuse (CTR) to perform solid waste and recycling collection and disposal services. The City has successfully worked with CTR, formerly known as Round Rock Refuse, since 1987, for our residential services and continue to receive high ratings in this area from our citizens during the biannual City survey. Several years ago, the City created a Downtown Commercial District to change how solid waste and recycling is managed in downtown Round Rock. The initial phase of this new program has also helped reduce illegal dumping and the number of solid waste collection containers which has improved the aesthetic appearance of three blocks in downtown.Because the City is expanding the Downtown Commercial District to include two additional blocks on the southeast and corner of the intersection of Main Street and Mays Street, the City would like to include an amendment to the contract to add these additional blocks to be serviced by CTR. The tenants located within the District have a separate rate structure that is billed through the City. There is no change to the Downtown Commercial District rates at this time.
