Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to submit an application to the Bureau of Reclamation for the WaterSMART Title XVI Congressionally Authorized Water Reclamation and Reuse Projects for Fiscal Years 2023 and 2024 grant program.

Body

The Title XVI Water Reclamation and Reuse Program was authorized by P.L 102-575 in 1992 and is administered by the Bureau of Reclamation. This program provides financial assistance to local water authorities for the planning, design, and construction of water reclamation and reuse projects.

The City of Round Rock has a reuse water facility located at the Brushy Creek Regional East Wastewater Treatment Plant. The 2023 Water Masterplan identified several potential reuse water projects that will help expand and reach capabilities of the reuse water system. These future projects are eligible to apply for funding authorized by the Bureau of Reclamation grant program.

The grant program offers funding equal to 25% of the project cost. The City of Round Rock would be responsible for funding the remaining 75% of the project cost. The City of Round Rock would like to apply for the grant program to assist with construction funding of three reuse projects. These projects include a dual electrical feed for the reuse water system, and two reuse water pipe projects to help extend reuse water south of highway 79.

The grant application is being coordinating with the City of Round Rock Finance Department. The City requests approval to submit the grant application.
