Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract for Engineering Services with Kasberg, Patrick & Associates, LP for the Cycle 4 - Basins 1 and 2 Wastewater Rehabilitation Project.
Body
The City is required to evaluate the wastewater collection system located inside the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone every five years to comply with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requirements. The elimination of defects inside the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone will not only help to protect the Edwards Aquifer, but will also reduce inflow and infiltration entering the City's wastewater collection system, thereby reducing the City's treatment cost.
Approximately half of the City is located over the Edwards Aquifer. The City has divided this area up into five major wastewater basins with numerous sub-basins. The City has recently completed the inspection of 14 sub-basins that are in two of the major wastewater basins (Onion Creek and Chandler Creek) to determine the areas that require rehabilitation. This contract is to develop construction plans and specifications to rehabilitate the wastewater collection system in these sub-basins.
Kasberg, Patrick & Associates, LP (KPA) was chosen for the evaluation of camera inspections of the collection lines and to determine a rehabilitation method for any needed repairs. This engineering contract for $173,670 is for the evaluation, design, and construction services associated with rehabilitating the wastewater mains within basins 1 (Onion Creek) and 2 (Chandler Creek).
Cost: $173,670.00
Source of Funds: Self-Financed Wastewater Construction
