Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Agreement with Unmanned Vehicle Technologies for the purchase of drone program, devices, hardware and software.

Body

The proposed contract with Unmanned Vehicle Technologies (UVT) addresses the drone-as-first-responder elements of the $417,450 grant received earlier this year from the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority’s (MVCPA). The largest cost component of the contract provides for the radar-based infrastructure necessary to enable autonomous drone deployment. The remainder of the cost covers software and pilot licenses, as well as a drone and its ancillary equipment. The proposed contract splits the $692,799.98 total contract over five years. Year 1’s cost of $176,759.98 is funded by the initial MVCPA grant. Years 2 through 5 each bear an annual cost of $129,010.00. Year 2 of the cost also is being picked up by the FY 2026 MVCPA grant. The overall intent is to continue to seek grant funding for this program, with the recurring costs at some point being picked up through the normal City budget process
