Consider an ordinance amending Chapter 42, Section 42-127, Code of Ordinances (2018 Edition), by amending speed zones on portions of University Boulevard from IH 35 to SH 130. (Second Reading)

A speed study was recently conducted along University Blvd from the IH 35 frontage road to the SH130 frontage road. The study was conducted to determine if the current speed limits are appropriate for the newly constructed sections of roadway. The study concluded that the section between the IH35 frontage road and Sunrise Rd. be increased from 35 mph to 40 mph. This is consistent with the expectation that traffic can travel faster in that section due to the road widening that recently occurred.
The recommended revisions are:
-Remove from table 42-127 (5) "University Boulevard east and west, from IH 35, to Sunrise Rd"
-Add to table 42-157(6) "University Boulevard east and west, from IH 35, to Sunrise Rd"
