Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the City to submit a grant application to the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority for the FY 2027 Catalytic Converter Grant Program.

Body

The proposed resolution would authorize an application to the Texas Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority's FY 2027 Catalytic Converter Grant Program to support the enforcement of vehicle-related crime. The Police Department is seeking a $72,750 continuation grant to fund a third year of automated license plate readers (ALPRs) from Flock Safety. The Authority would provide $58,200 in grant funding, with $14,550 in required City matching funds, to continue operating 20 Flex Falcon mobile cameras and four fixed cameras acquired through previous grants. The focus of this continuation grant is to utilize existing cameras in proven enforcement areas while maintaining flexibility throughout the City

This application is for an additional one-year grant, and the Flock Safety cameras are subject to annual service charges. If funding ends, the Department intends to discontinue the recurring costs associated with the Flock program.

Cost: $72,750 ($14,550 in City matching funds)
