Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Interlocal Agreement with the Texas Department of Public Safety regarding Texas Conviction Reporting.

Body

Courts across Texas report convictions and suspensions through an electronic submission process. The Texas Department of Public Safety, Driver License Division (DLD) has recently announced an update on the development of a new web-based site for all Texas courts to report these convictions and suspensions more efficiently. The Texas Conviction Report (TXCR) interface will eliminate paper processes and the current electronic submission process. A “real-time” upload feature will allow court users the ability to review successful submissions, prevent duplicate entries, and review rejected convictions. Users will have the ability to correct and resubmit missing information for rejected convictions immediately.

The Round Rock Municipal Court has been asked to participate in a pilot program of the new web-based system. There is no cost for participating, but it does require an interlocal agreement which necessitates Council approval.

Staff recommends approval.
