Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Engineering Services Contract with Waeltz & Prete, Inc. for the Downtown Small Waterline Replacement Project.
Body
The City of Round Rock’s water system was initially established in 1935 with the downtown elevated storage tank. Over time, the water system has grown and developed. In several areas with older small diameter water pipes, these pipes have come to the end of their useful life and need replacement.
The City of Round Rock evaluated areas with older small waterlines that are subject to repeated failures, corrosion and present access challenges when making repairs. Based on this, seven locations were determined to need replacement at this time. This project will replace existing 1.5-inch to 2-inch galvanized steel pipes with larger water mains made from current materials. In addition, the project will evaluate providing a looped waterline feed at locations where it is feasible to provide more reliable water.
The City has contracted the services of Waeltz & Prete, Inc to provide engineering design, bid and construction phase services for replacing the waterlines. The total contract value is $166,781.86.
By replacing the failing waterlines at these locations, the water system will be able to provide improved flow and it will minimize future repairs.
Cost: $166,781.86
