Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Agreement with Safeware, Inc. for the purchase of public safety equipment.
Body
Proposed is a two-year agreement with Safeware, Inc. to supply public safety equipment for the Police and Fire departments. The proposed contract has a total not-to-exceed amount of $525,000.00 over its two-year run. The contract sets unit prices on various public safety equipment and services provided by the vendor but does not set a specific department appropriation for these services. Prices are set through a 41 percent discount off the company’s list price for catalog items and 10 percent off the list price for services and training.
The Police Department primarily uses Safeware to cover major tactical items like night vision goggles, thermal imagers, ceramic body armor, hazardous-materials (Hazmat) response gear, ballistic helmets, first-aid kits, and various kinds of ammunition. For the Fire Department, Safeware provides emergency response kits, rescue gear, respiratory protection, and Hazmat supplies.
