Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Quantity Adjustment/Change Order No. 3 with Austin Underground, Inc. for the SH 29 Raw Water Line Relocation (IH 35 to Wolf Ranch Pkwy) Project.

Body

The City of Round Rock has two raw water lines that feed raw water from Lake Georgetown to the City’s Water Treatment Plant. One of the raw water lines is a 30-inch raw water line located in the right-of-way (ROW) of State Highway 29 in Georgetown, which is owned and managed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The raw water line was installed in 1995 and has been relocated in several locations due to TxDOT roadway conflicts.

TxDOT notified the City of Round Rock last year that they will be expanding State Highway 29 from Interstate-35 to Wolf Ranch Parkway. The road widening project will conflict with Round Rock’s 30-inch raw water line, and the line must be relocated. Round Rock is responsible for relocation costs because the water line is located in the TxDOT’s ROW. A total of approximately 2,963 linear feet of the 30-inch raw water line is being relocated. BGE, Inc. is the design engineer and is under contract through the end of construction.

The construction contract was awarded to Austin Underground on September 12, 2024, in the amount of $3,344,497 and 150 calendar days. Previously approved Change Order No. 1 to the construction contract had a total cost is $0.00 net and included an additional 182 calendar days. Previously approved Change Order No. 2 to the construction contract was $48,000.00, for an adjusted contract amount of $3,392,497.

This request is for the approval of Change Order No. 3 in the amount of $142,581.62. Change Order No. 3 includes work associated with lowering a bore across Wolf Ranch Parkway due to a conflict with an existing electrical crossing. With the Change Order No. 3, adjusted contract amount is $3,535,078.62.

Cost: $142,581.62
