Title
Consider an ordinance designating the intersection of East New Hope Drive and Mayfield Ranch Boulevard as an all-way stop intersection. (First reading) (Requires Two Readings)
Body
The Public Works Department completed a stop warrant study for the intersection of East New Hope Drive and Mayfield Ranch Boulevard. The study reviewed existing traffic volumes, roadway conditions, and applicable guidance from the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
The study found that traffic volumes at the intersection are near the applicable all-way stop thresholds, and the current operating conditions support the installation of all-way stop control. East New Hope Drive is planned to ultimately function as a larger arterial roadway, but under existing conditions, the intersection operates more similarly to a lower-speed collector-type intersection.
Based on the study and engineering evaluation, staff recommends establishing all-way stop control at the intersection. Approval of the ordinance would authorize stop signs to be installed on the East New Hope Drive approaches, making the intersection an all-way stop.
