Body
Steel tanks require interior and exterior coating rehabilitation approximately every 20 years to protect the tank’s integrity. The City has set aside funding for an annual tank coating rehabilitation program. Based on inspections, the Meadows Elevated Storage Tank (EST) is in need of rehabilitation. Meadows EST was constructed in 1984 and has a capacity of 750,000 gallons. The last time the tank was rehabilitated was in 2003.
The project consists of minor structural repairs and recoating the interior and exterior of the Meadows tank. This project was bid as Competitive Sealed Proposal (CSP) due to the critical nature of the project and tight construction timeline.
On Wednesday, August 20th, five proposals were received and publicly opened. The proposals were evaluated based on criteria outlined in the contract documents. The proposal evaluation included cost, the experience of the company, project team experience, and other criteria outlined in the project manual.
Based on the evaluation, TanksCo Inc. had the highest scoring proposal. Based on these results, TanksCo Inc. provides the greatest overall value to the City of Round Rock with a bid of $796,314.55.
