Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Quantity Adjustment/Change Order No. 1 with SKE Construction, LLC for the Kensington Place Asbestos-Cement Waterline Replacement Project.

Body

This proposed project consisted of replacing approximately 14,000 linear feet of six and eight-inch asbestos-cement (A/C) water mains with eight-inch high-density polyethylene pipe in the Kensington Place, South Terrace and South Park subdivisions. These mains installed in the 1970s have a history of breaks and are near the end of their estimated life expectancy.  This project completed the replacement of aging A/C waterlines east of South Mays and south of Gattis School Road.

To construct to City standards and help future maintenance of the service lines, the contractor open cut the street and install sleeves for the water services. Also, additional driveway repairs, fire hydrants, fittings, and valves were also needed to complete the scope of work for this project.

The City contracted with SKE Construction, LLC on September 24, 2020 in the amount of $1,672,874.73. With the addition of this change order for $73,611.58, it will bring the total contract to $1,746,486.31.

Cost: $73,611.58
