Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an lnterlocal Agreement for Emergency Water Supply with Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District.

Body

The City of Round Rock and the Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District (BCMUD) each own and operate respective water utility systems.  A significant portion of Round Rock’s extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) is located within the boundaries of BCMUD’s water service area. Round Rock and BCMUD believe that a reliable source of water is critical for its customers.

This Interlocal Agreement between Round Rock and BCMUD formalizes the provision of emergency water service between the two utility systems. Either party may supply water to the other in an emergency. The receiving party will pay a volumetric rate per 1,000 gallons equal to the City of Round Rock's rate block four as set forth in the code of ordinances.

This agreement replaces the 2021 Emergency Water Supply Interlocal Agreement with BCMUD and updates the locations of the emergency interconnects. The points of delivery will now be the interconnects at:

The northeast corner of FM 620 and O’Connor Drive (existing)

The southeast corner of Cascada Court and Cascada Lane (existing)

Brushy Creek MUD water treatment facility along Sam Bass Road (new addition)

The agreement has a term of 20 years from the effective date.
