Consider a resolution calling a Special Election to be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 for the purpose of filling a vacancy for Councilmember Place Six.

On October 6, 2017 Kris Whitfield vacated her position on the City Council. City Charter states that when there is more than a year left on a term left vacant, the seat will be filled per the Texas Constitution; which requires that a Home Rule city with 3-year terms fill vacancies within 120 days by special election. This resolution will call a special election for Saturday, December 16, 2017.
