Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a contract with Environmental Safety Services, Inc. for the Sonoma 2013C Channel Erosion Project.

Body

The Brushy Creek tributary that passes through the Sonoma neighborhood turns abruptly just before its confluence with Brushy Creek creating significant vertical bank scour in two locations. At the first location, the right bank is scoured back to the fence line of 2368 and 2370 Paradise Ridge Drive. The homes
will soon lose property and fences if this erosion continues to widen the right bank. The second location near the Sonoma Park is experiencing similar erosion issues putting an existing concrete path at eventual risk.

This construction contract implements the erosion repair and slope stabilization designed by K.Friese & Associates. The City received three bids on December 2, 2015 with Environmental Safety Services, Inc. (ESSI) providing the low bid of $112,767.75. This bid is below the engineer’s construction estimate of $198,000. ESSI provided documentation of similar work and references for review.
