Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract with Fuquay, Inc. for the 36-inch Truss Pipe Rehabilitation Project.
Body
As a part of the City's ongoing work on lowering the Inflow and Infiltration (I&I)into our wastewater collection system, may inspections were performed. During the inspection of the 36-inch Chandler Creek gravity interceptor, several pipe and leak issues were identified and much of the work to correct these issues have been completed.
The 200 linear feet section of wastewater line was noted to be in poor condition. Even though no I&I was noted along with this poor pope condition, this line is the segment that extends through an earthen dam at the Upper Brushy Creek WCID Dam #11. This is a segment that has a high risk of failure; therefore, since the CIty has identified a relatively low cost remedy for rehabilitating this pipe, the City recommends it be done at this time.
The cast-in-place-pipe or CIPP liner is like a large "fabric sock" that is soaked in an epoxy solution then blown into the pipe. An ultra violet light array is used to set off the hardening reaction to harden the liner after it is blown into place. This same method was recently performed in an emergency repair on a 15-inch line along Brushy Creek by the same company. The life expectancy for this repair is a minimum of 30 years.
