...Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Cost Participation Agreement with SDC Austin LLC regarding the design and construction of certain improvements to Bryant Drive between Rachel Lane and Double Creek Drive.

...Body

This item is a cost-sharing agreement with SDC Austin, LLC, (also known as Sabey Data Centers) regarding the construction of Bryant Drive. Prior to the construction of the data center, there was a gap in Bryant Drive between Double Creek Drive on the east and Rachel Lane on the west. Sabey needed to extend a small length of the road on the east to provide access to the electric substation on the property and a small extension on the west to provide access to a proposed driveway serving their site. This would have left a gap of just over 200 feet. City staff approached Sabey to see if Sabey would construct the rest of the roadway if reimbursed by the city, to which they agreed. The cost to the city is $441,499.80, which covers about 205 linear feet of roadway with a sidewalk on the north side. Closing this roadway gap will provide a much needed vehicular and pedestrian connection between South AW Grimes Blvd and Double Creek Dr.

Note: the overall cost of the project as described in the agreement includes the private site development improvements of Phase II of the Sabey Data Center as well as the roadway improvements.  The city's contribution is only for the public roadway described above and not for any private on-site improvements. The reason why the on-site improvements are noted in the agreement is because they are part of the same permit with the city and the same construction package with Sabey's contractor (Chasco).
