Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a contract with Patin Construction, LLC for the Sam Bass Road at Creek Bend Boulevard Turn Lane Improvements Project.

The original Creek Bend extension project, includes turn lane improvements and a signal installation at the intersection of Sam Bass Rd. at Creek Bend Blvd. These improvements will not only help drivers navigate the intersection, but will create a much safer crossing for pedestrians. Due to the additional geo investigation that has slowed the project down, and may effect the viability of the overall project, staff still believes that these intersection improvements are appropriate and should move forward. As such, city staff was instructed to bid this portion of the project, independent of the major Creek Bend construction.
The bid opening for construction of the improvements was held on October 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm. A total of three bids were received. Patin Construction, LLC, submitted a bid of $754,492. Smith Contracting Company, Inc submitted a bid of $782,638.05. Aaron Concrete Contractors submitted a bid of $811,891.10. The apparent low bidder is Patin Construction, LLC with a bid of $754,492.00.
After reviewing and certifying the bid tabulation, CP&Y and the Transportation Department staff recommend that Patin Construction, LLC, with a base bid of $754,492.00, be awarded the contract for construction of this project.
