Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Agreement with Smith Pump Company, Inc. for the purchase of repair services for Raw Water Intake #6.

Body

The City of Round Rock’s primary source for drinking water comes from the Raw Water Intake located at Lake Georgetown. The City has a total of nine Raw Water Pumps that send water from Lake Georgetown to the Water Treatment Plant located on Westinghouse Road. We do not have a spare pump or motor, as the purchase of a new one would be in excess of $200,000, and long-term storage requires the pump and motor to be completely submerged under water. Due to the criticality of this asset for the utility, we recommend repairing this pump and motor.  Ensuring that all nine pumps are in working order will allow the City to meet peak water demands during the summer months.

The Utilities and Environmental Services Department recommends entering into an agreement with Smith Pump Company, Inc. for the repair of the Raw Water Pump and Motor #6 repairs for the Lake Georgetown Raw Water Intake, in the amount of $77,837.15.
