Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Georgetown regarding the relocation of a portion of the City's raw water line which conflicts with Georgetown's Improvement project for D.B. Wood Road.

Body

The City of Round Rock has two raw waterlines that extend from Lake Georgetown to the City's Water Treatment Plant that traverses outside our jurisdiction within private easements and right-of-way (ROW) controlled by TxDOT and the City of Georgetown. These jurisdictions are experiencing rapid growth and have implemented road widening projects to help alleviate traffic congestion.

The City of Georgetown is currently working to expand DB Wood Road. The City of Round Rock has a 30-inch raw water line installed in 1995 in the DB Wood Road ROW. The raw waterline has come into conflict with necessary roadway improvements. The raw waterline requires protection with split-steel encasement in two areas to avoid damage from roadwork and other nearby utilities. In another area, it involves relocation of the raw waterline to prevent conflict with the roadway improvements altogether.

The City of Round Rock and the City of Georgetown have negotiated an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) to assist with the conflicts in the most efficient means possible. The agreement allows the City of Georgetown to install encasement to protect Round Rock’s line in two locations, with Round Rock reimbursing the cost. Additionally, Round Rock will relocate its raw waterline at one location at Round Rock’s s cost. The City of Georgetown will provide an exclusive and protected easement within their right-of-way to allow relocation. This agreement will help protect our raw waterline along the current widening of DB Wood Road and allow Georgetown to construct the roadway without excess delay.
