Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Quantity Adjustment/Change Order No. 2 with Capital Excavation Company for the Wyoming Springs Drive, Segment 1 Project.

Body

The Wyoming Springs Drive, Segment 1 Extension Project is a new four-lane divided arterial roadway that will include shared-use paths and extend over Brushy Creek from Creek Bend Boulevard to FM 3406 (Old Settlers Boulevard). The project is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on FM 3406, Sam Bass Road, and Creek Bend Boulevard, offering another north-south route on the west side of the City.

Quantity Adjustment/Change Order (QA/CO) No. 2 includes the following items:

- Adding a block retaining wall to protect a tree on a very steep slope near Brushy Creek Trail

- Improve safety by adding guard rail, mow strip and delineators to protect the large columns on the Brushy Creek bridge adjacent to Hairy Man Road

- Additional necessary water taps for the irrigation system

- Adding 135 calendar days to the project due to various delays including tree clearing restrictions (TCEQ requirements), waiting for Atmos Energy Encroachment Agreement and LONO preparation and approval, and ongoing   delays coordinating work with Oncor

- Adding 4 months of barricades to account for the additional calendar days added to the project

QA/CO No. 2 items add an additional $94,192 to the contract amount. This added to the previously approved QA/CO No. 1 of $460,418.50, brings the new contract amount to $26,472,240.97.
