Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Interlocal Agreement with the Cities of Hutto, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Leander, and Pflugerville and WIlliamson County regarding the creation of a Regional Vehicle Burglary Suppression Taskforce.

Body

This Interlocal Cooperation Agreement establishes a Regional Vehicle Burglary Suppression Taskforce to include the Cities of Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Hutto, Leander, and Pflugerville, and Williamson County. The purpose of the agreement is to enhance public safety by coordinating investigations and enforcement efforts related to vehicle-related crimes, including auto theft, vehicle burglaries, and catalytic converter theft. The Taskforce is governed by a Board of Directors composed of the participating Chiefs of Police and the Williamson County Sheriff.

The agreement has an initial one-year term with automatic annual renewals. Any participating entity may withdraw with 90 days’ written notice. There is no cost-sharing requirement; each agency is responsible for its own personnel, equipment, and training costs. Grant funding may be pursued independently to support Taskforce operations.
