Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Quantity Adjustment /Change Order No. 1 with McDonald Municipal & Industrial, Inc. for the Water Distribution Systems Generator Project.

Body

This agenda item is Change Order No. 1 for the construction phase of the Water Distribution Systems Generator Project.

With the onset of inclement weather in February of 2021, the state legislature passed and signed the Texas State Bill 3 (SB3) requiring an emergency plan for all Texas utilities. During the evaluation of the water distribution system by the City of Round Rock, it was determined that standby generators were needed at three identified distribution sites. Standby generators will help provide greater resiliency and flexibility in the water distribution system during a prolonged power outage.

The original project cost, awarded to McDonald Municipal & Industrial, Inc. after being the lowest responsible bid on September 15, 2022, was $1,508,700.  Change Order No. 1 is needed to address recent City experience, sizing, and procurement issues regarding generator manufacturing.  For this project, we are changing the actual manufacturer of the generators.  Additionally, based on field conditions and to avoid unnecessary shutdowns to nearby businesses, a waterline relocation modification in necessary for the South 81 Pump Station site. The amount for the Change Order No. 1 is $88,400.

Cost: $88,400.00
