Consider a resolution determining that John King Construction, Ltd. provides the best value for the City for the Sports Center Expansion Project and authorizing the Mayor to execute a Standard Form of Agreement.

 

Body

This resolution is for approval that John King Construction, Ltd. provides the best value for the City for Round Rock Sports Center Expansion construction. Competitive sealed proposal is a method of construction that allows the City of Round Rock to hire a contractor based off qualifications and low bid equaling the best value. The Round Rock Sports Center Expansion project solicitation received three qualified proposals from John King Construction, Broaddus Construction, and Greystone Construction. John King Construction, Ltd., after scoring and ranking by a selection committee, was found to be the most qualified and best value for the project. .

 

John King Construction, Ltd. Has worked with the City of Round Rock to complete past construction project such as the Rabb House, Kinningham House, and the Fireball Grill at Dell Diamond. John King Construction has been awarded and is currently constructing Fire Station No.1 off Old Settlers Blvd. Officed in Round Rock, John King Construction has a local presence, proven themselves as a capable contractor, and provided excellent construction services. Staff recommends approval.

 

When construction is complete, the expansion will add over 25,000 square feet to the footprint existing facility and accommodate championship play, 2 additional basketball courts, or four additional volleyball courts. Other amenities include additional seating, restrooms, player’s lounge, multipurpose room, storage(s), referee lounge, and concessions. Additional parking is being added to the facility as well as a second lobby entrance.


Cost: $18,965,136.00
