Title

Consider an ordinance amending Chapter 14, Section 14-303, Code of Ordinances (2010 Edition), to amend the definition of "junked vehicle."  (First Reading)*

Body

The City of Round Rock requires the owner or occupant of any property within the City to keep property free of the presence of junked vehicles.  The Round Rock Police Department responds to violations of this ordinance and can begin the abatement process to have the vehicle removed if it meets the criteria for abatement specified in Ordinance (14-303-(b)(2)).

In 2015, Texas changed the law requiring the visible display of both an  inspection certification and registration insignia on all vehicles to only requiring display of the registration.  The proposed ordinance amends the definition of "junked vehicle" to remove the requirement of a valid inspection certificate and reflects current Texas state law that only requires valid registration insignia visible on a vehicle.
