Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Supplemental Contract No. 2 with American Structurepoint, Inc. for the Sam Bass at Hairy Man Road Intersection Improvements Project.

The City entered into a contract with American Structure Point Engineering for the Sam Bass Road and Hairy Man Road Improvements project. The purpose of the project is to develop schematic layouts for two different designs for a Roundabout at that intersection. The public process will then determine the final option selected. This roundabout design will improve the safety and mobility for the traveling public at this non-standard intersection.
Supplemental Agreement No. 1 added the services of a Geotechnical Engineer to investigate the subsurface soils providing a geotechnical investigation of the project limits. Once preliminary design work was being developed, it was decided to gather more existing geotechnical data directly in this intersection. This geotechnical work consists of conducting borings, associated laboratory investigation, and subsequent rigid and flexible pavement recommendations, along with recommendations for earthwork compaction requirements. The cost of this supplemental was $18,549.00.
This Supplemental Agreement No. 2 is for additional engineering to produce the Plans, Specifications & Estimate (PS&E) package, including any additional survey, drainage, and project management with the utility companies. This agreement is for $198,728. The total contract price with Supplemental No. 2 is $802,675.44.
