Body
For many years, the City field operations for Utilities, Transportation, Stormwater, and Fleet Maintenance have been located on Luther Peterson Boulevard. Back in 2016, the City developed a Master Plan of the City-owned property to determine a long-range plan for these essential City functions. In 2019, Phase 1 of the Master Plan was completed that moved the Transportation Administration as well as the Utilities and Environmental Services Administration and Operations to what is now known as the Bob Bennett complex. Since that time Transportation and Utilities have joined together to form the Public Works Department. We have also started Phase 2 which will relocate all of Transportation Operations to the Bob Bennett Complex as well. This phase of the Master Plan will commence construction later this year.
As part of the overall Master Plan, the City has desired to purchase the SPJST Lodge 187 property which is located to the west of Phase 1 and 2 of the Bob Bennett complex, and between City property on both sides of the SPJST property. The SPJST property consist of 2.989 acres of land with and one older building located on the property. After months of negotiations between both sides, the City and SPJST have agreed on a proposed acquisition price of $1,400,000 for this 2.989 acres of property. The City has plans to development this property in a future phase of the City's ultimate plan along Luther Peterson Boulevard.
