Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Interlocal Agreement with Williamson County regarding the traffic signal installation at County Road 110 and University Boulevard Project.

As the City of Round Rock and the surrounding area continue to grow, traffic on the periphery of Round Rock has grown commensurately. Recently, Williamson County officials determined that the intersection of CR 110 and University Boulevard has met warrants for the installation of a traffic signal. The county subsequently prepared construction plans for this work, with input from city transportation department staff. The project continues to progress, with the county anticipating bidding the project soon.
As part of this process, the county has asked that once constructed, (construction being fully funded by the county) the city take over ownership and maintenance of the signal. If approved, city traffic signal personnel would have responsibility for maintenance and operations of the signal. City staff believe it is in the best interest of the city to operate this signal, as it is on the edge of our city limits and the city has personnel dedicated to operating the equipment, thus ensuring its efficient function.
