Title

Consider public testimony regarding, and an ordinance approving an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan 2030 to modify the Future Land Use Map to allow mixed-use development on 0.27 acres located northeast of the intersection of S. Mays Street and Tower Drive. (First Reading)*

Body

This property is owned by the City of Round Rock. The FLUM (Future Land Use Map) of the Comprehensive Plan 2030 designates the site as open space. This designation reflects the previous use of the site for municipal water supply facilities. These facilities have been abandoned and the lot has remained undeveloped. Because there is a commercial use bordering it to the north, and the lot has frontage on Mays Street, staff believes the lot is more suitable for a mixture of uses. The land use amendment to mixed use will make it marketable and provides a better land use for the location. The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on April 6, 2022, and voted 7-0 to recommend approval of the amendment. There were no speakers at the hearing.
