Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the submittal of a grant application for FY 2020 Coronavirus Aid, Relief & Economic Security (CARES) Act funding from the Economic Development Administration for the County Road 112 Roadway Improvements Project.

Body

This grant is intended to enhance the growth of the City of Round Rock and provide funding for the widening of County Road (CR) 112 between AW Grimes and CR 110. This project is a part of the Transportation Master Plan, the City's five-year roadway initiative, and part of the County's bond projects. The initial roadway improvements will widen CR 112 from a two-lane rural roadway to a four-lane divided urban roadway with pedestrian and drainage facilities, within the future six-lane divided roadway section.

The anticipated total cost of this project will be $32,500,000. The Transportation Department is intending to apply for 60% of the project cost from the EDA CARES Grant, which will be $19,500,000. The remaining 40% matching funds of $13,000,000 will be split between the City and Williamson County.

The CR 112 (Avery-Nelson Parkway) expansion project was chosen to improve access to research, training, and treatment facilities in future medical mixed-use growth corridor of Avery Centre.
