Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Supplemental Contract No. 1 with Alan Plummer Associates, Inc. for the Brushy Creek Regional Wastewater System (BCRWWS) East Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Project.
Body
The City of Round Rock entered into a contract with Alan Plummer Associates, Inc. on August 10, 2017 in the amount of $1,662,593 to perform the preliminary engineering services necessary for the expansion of the Brushy Creek Regional Wastewater System (BCRWWS) East Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). That contract is nearly complete. Items which were not included in the scope of the original contract were the site surveying, geotechnical data collection, and equipment pre-selection services. These tasks can be added to the preliminary engineering scope of work and are needed before the final design work can be performed under a separate contract.
The equipment pre-selection process will establish specific products and manufacturers for some of the large equipment to be constructed with the plant expansion. The specific identification of this equipment is necessary since different proprietary equipment suitable to serve any given function at the wastewater plant will have different installation requirements such as hydraulic head or physical space requirements. The design of the structures and appurtenances necessary for this equipment will have to be designed during the final design phase. Therefore, the specific products will need to be determined prior to final design of the WWTP and the equipment pre-selection process will accomplish this requirement.
The amount requested under this Supplemental Contract No. 1 is $500,000 in a lump sum contract with the break down by task as follows:
Equipment Pre-selection $360,000
Topographic Survey $ 77,500
Geotechnical Survey $ 62,500
Cost: $500,000
Source of Funds: Self-Financed Wastewater Construction
