Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a contract with Trac-N-Trol, Inc. for the RTU Install & Enhancement - Phase 3 Project.
Body
The City currently utilizes a number of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) that are located at every pump station, storage tank, and lift station site in the Utility system. These RTUs allow the City to monitor tank levels, pump run times, etc.
Phase 1 of this project replaced an existing obsolete Front End Processor, and provided the City with thirty-four RTUs and radios to replace thirty-four existing RTUs and radios located throughout the water and wastewater systems. Phase 2 physically replaced the RTUs and radios at these 34 locations. This has improved the City's software development/run time environments and increased data capabilities by upgrading the radio system from 1200 baud to Ethernet.
Phase 3 will consist of replacing seven RTUs at the City's more complex pumping sites: Stone Oak Standpipe, Southeast Elevated, Lake Creek Well, Southeast Ground Storage (GS), McNeil GS, Bowman GS, and Westinghouse Well site. In addition, existing antenna towers will be raised at six sites and existing coaxial will be replaced at four sites.
Upgrading the Water Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system will ensure a safer and more up to date communication system in managing the City's Water Distribution system and Wastewater Collection system.
