Title

Consider a resolution approving and authorizing the purchase of various vehicles and equipment and authorizing the City Manager to approve one or more Purchase Orders to purchase said vehicles and equipment.

 

Body

The FY 2015-2016 adopted Operating Budget includes 2 additional vehicles and various vehicle replacements for the General Fund and for the Utility Fund.  This item is to approve most of those planned vehicle purchases for this fiscal year. 

 

The attached list totals $3,325,000 and includes:

                     All 2015-16 General Fund replacement vehicles, except 2 motorcycles that will be competitively bid at a later date;

                     All 2015-16 Utility Fund replacement vehicles;

                     The new vehicle for Drainage; and

                     One replacement for a vehicle that was totaled in an accident after the budget was adopted.  The cost of this item will be covered by insurance proceeds and the Utility Billing division’s existing budget. 

 

Numerous local and non-local vendors, and cooperatives were contacted.  Pricing and options were carefully evaluated and using cooperatives provided the best value for the City for these items.  All total cost of vehicles is within the amounts approved in the 2015-16 budget, except as noted for the Utility Billing vehicle.

 

The new Fire Department battalion chief truck and the two motorcycle replacements are the only remaining scheduled vehicle purchases for 2015/16.
