Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract for Engineering Services with CP&Y, Inc. for the Southeast GST Pump Improvements & S81 Elevated Tank Pump Station Project.

Body

The Southeast Ground Storage Tank Pump Station was built in the mid 1980’s. The pumps and electrical motor control center are antiquated and are in need of replacement.

The ability to distribute and use ground water from the Lake Creek Well Site and the existing McNeil Ground Storage Pump Station located to the west along McNeil Road are physically inhibited by existing line sizes and pumping capacities.  The water model delivered to us by our Water Distribution System Master Plan engineering consultant, CDM Smith, indicated that a Pump Station at the South 81 Elevated Storage Tank site would allow the City to pump the Lake Creek ground water to the Chisholm Valley Elevated Storage Tank.

With this Professional Services Agreement, the City Utility Staff is requesting CP&Y, Inc. to further investigate the water system inadequacies and produce and deliver a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) defining types and sizes of pumps to most efficiently distribute our valuable ground water asset.

The Utility Staff recommends the Mayor award a contract to CP&Y, Inc. for the amount of $149,833 to deliver to the City a PER which will be followed by a Supplemental Agreement for the Design portion of this project.

Cost:  $149,833.00
