Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Professional Consulting Services Agreement with Cambrian Environmental for a Karst Phase 2 Investigation for the Dam 101 Project.

Body

Dam 101 is a joint project between the Upper Brushy Creek WCID and the City to substantially lessen the frequency and depth of flooding along Lake Creek, particularly in the Greater Round Rock West area. The WCID and City signed an Inter-Local Agreement that assigned responsibility for coordinating design, construction, and funding of Dam 101 to the City. The WCID is contributing $6 Million to the project and will operate and maintain the dam when complete. Per the ILA, the WCID made a payment of $2 Million to the City prior to October 1, 2015.

This Professional Services Contract with Cambrian Environmental will continue the Karst and related endangered species (Karst Invertebrate) investigations for Dam 101. As described in the ILA, an “Initial Work” phase contracted to WCID was recently completed which included the preliminary surface identification of potential Karst features. This new contract includes work for the further investigation and the necessary excavation work of potential Karst features. If Karst Invertebrate habitat is identified, a presence/absence survey will be performed as required and according to USFWS protocols and TCEQ requirements.
