Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Quantity Adjustment/Change Order No. 2 with APAC Texas, Inc. - Wheeler Companies for the 2014 Street Maintenance Program (Overlay) Project.

Body

The City Council approved APAC’s bid for construction services for 2014 Street Maintenance Program Overlay at a cost of $5,250,176.25 on October 9, 2014.  The scope of the contract included all items necessary for the successful construction of infrastructure and surface improvements for the Greenslopes Subdivision.

On October 8, 2015 the City Council approved Quantity Adjustment/Change Order # 1 in the amount of $51,600 that was required to add an additional street to the project area because underlying conditions were found to be inferior and required full depth repair and overlay. With Quantity Adjustment/Change Order No. 1, the total cost of the construction contract was $5,301,776.25.

Quantity Adjustment/Change Order # 2 includes additional areas found during the final phases of the project which required full depth pavement repair and crack-fill for sealing cracks.  These change order items total $24,278.00. Quantity Adjustment/Change Order # 2 also includes a reduction of quantities to reflect actual final project quantities including asphalt overlays, pavement repairs and removal and replacing of concrete. These reductions total $1,073,079.61. The total cost of this construction contract with APAC-Texas, Inc. with Quantity Adjustment/Change Order No. 2, including the additional items and the reduction of quantities, will be $4,252,974.64.
